Mattamia
Mattamia

Although he has already been victorious on three occasions this season, Mattamia’s improving all the time and ran a cracker when runner-up to Binou, when tackling older opposition for the first time at Newmarket on Saturday. Off a mark of 90, he still looks handicapped to win against his own age group and there are nice races coming up at both Glorious Goodwood and York’s Ebor meeting. He is more effective on a faster surface and provided the sun shines; he should have a great summer.

Milldown Story

A slightly backward filly, she needed plenty of time to reach the racecourse but made a promising debut when sixth in a useful Salisbury maiden, despite running very green on the wide outside. After her proposed run at Windsor was abandoned by a slipping saddle, she returned to the racecourse in a valuable Newbury maiden six weeks later. Having given the 4/7fav Leverage a real race throughout the final two furlongs, she tired in the last fifty yards and ended up losing second. She can only progress with experience and shouldn’t be long in losing her maiden tag, hopefully it will be at Ffos Las on Tuesday but should remain competitive once stepping up into handicaps.
