GREELEY was our SIXTEENTH winner of the season when scoring on handicap debut at Leicester on Thursday. The son of Sir Prancealot was one of our sharper two-year-olds and was out early in the season but he did not perform as well as expected so we decided to geld him after his third run and wait until the nurseries started. The plan worked well as stepped up to seven furlongs and off the track for 52 days, he ran out a convincing winner, hitting the front inside the final furlong to win quite comfortably by two lengths. Both the two syndicated two-year-olds, Mawde was the other, have both won and with the yearling sales not far away, it isn’t a bad advert and please get in touch if you want to get involved for 2019!
Our last three runners have all run cracking races in defeat, all three showing excellent attitudes in the process. Sir Percy gelding HAWRIDGE FLYER has proved extremely consistent since joining the yard this year and he ran right up to his best when second in a Class 3 handicap at Newbury. He will prefer easier ground when the rain eventually comes and is certainly due a win. DADDIES GIRL had a tremendous two-year-old campaign with three wins and has shown she has trained on with some excellent efforts this season but she isn’t that easy to place off a mark of 92. Another solid third at Newbury on Saturday, meant she took her career earnings past £45,000 which is a brilliant achievement for a filly that cost just £5,000. Showcasing filly SUFFICIENT stepped up again on her handicap debut to finish third at Doncaster, beaten just over a length in a decent fillies nursery. She settled much better and raced more professionally on this fourth start and can only keep on improving with experience and hopefully it won’t be long before she gets a win on the board.
