An ideal opportunity was lost for Champagne Champ when Bath was abandoned last week and he is switched to the all-weather for the Queens Prize at Kempton this afternoon. It is a competitive £25,000 event and while he does prefer soft ground, he has been placed on the all-weather in the past. He was extremely consistent without winning last season and the handicapper has dropped him down to 87 (as high as 93) so he has his usual solid each way chance fit from his hurdling campaign. He faces some interesting rivals, AW handicappers such as Inn The Bull and Author’s Dream have been on a roll yet face stronger opposition today and classy types like Curbyourenthusiasm dropping back into handicaps but Champ is solid and should not be too far away.
