Bukle was a shock 20 – 1 winner at Salisbury for first time owner Colin Saunders. The change of ground to easier conditions and longer trip seemed to do the trick and is entered later in the week.
Biotic ran out an extremely impressive winner at Hampton on Saturday – his second of the season and the yards 14th winner of 2015.
Biotic is one of Bramaputra, a mare we trained to win as a 3 year old and felt she would have been one of our best before injury intervened and she had to be retired. Biotic is her second foal (Isis Blue her 1st was a winner for the yard and is back in training) and is an extremely big horse that has very much been on the weak side , but this has meant he has progressed nicely throughout his career. Stepped up to the 1m 3f at Kempton he traveled strongly throughout the race before easily clear to win by 4 lengths. Unfortunately such and easy success won’t help his future handicap mark but we hope he has plenty more progress in him and his next target is the £25,000.00 middle distant final at Nottingham on the 30th September.
Master Carpenter was not disgraced when dead heated for fifth in a group 3 at Haydock, the steady pace meant he had to make the running which was not ideal but he was not beaten for and heads to Cambridgeshire next.
A busy week ahead and our next two runners are two year olds. Sir Roderic goes to Leicester for his third run in the maiden. He improved immensely from his debut effort to finish fourth at Windsor last time out and we anticipate further improvement. However, it looks a strong maiden and if he is placed that would be a decent effort.
It will be great to have Handy Talk back on track at Doncaster on Wednesday , after suffering from Pleurisy and becoming very sick after finishing fourth in the National stakes it is hard to know how much that had effected his previous performances but he had already shown a decent level of form in defeat behind some useful 2 year olds ( beat Buratino came 2nd behind Log Out Island in the Carter Stakes at Ascot and finished 4th behind Birchwood at Newberry ). After 104 days off and such a serious illness, he will certainly improve for the run in what looks a competitive contest, but hopefully it will put him spot on for his main target the £150,000.00 Redcar Two Year Old Trophy.
