Well the horses have remained in cracking form with three winners in a week taking us to sixteen winners for the year and over £123,000 in prize money so far.
Have to start off with the stable star SIR RODERIC who made it five wins for the year in impressive fashion at Sandown this evening. Once again the rain came in time for him but there was no pace and he ended up getting badly boxed in with just over two furlongs to go as the race developed into a sprint. However, he still showed a smart turn of foot to hit the front and as usual had his ears pricked entering the final fifty yards to win comfortably once again. It’s hard to know where the improvement will stop on soft ground, he has already gone up 23lb and although he will face much harder tasks we hope he can win again, especially as he is beginning to get quite a following.
While PRESENT ACCEPTED is the complete opposite as he needs fast ground and despite having a summer jumping campaign in mind, he’s had to miss numerous targets due to the wet weather. He was finally able to run again at Stratford on Sunday, where he jumped with fluency unlike most of his fifteen rivals. He hit the front three from home and despite idling, he never looked like getting beat. He still has a very low handicap mark and as long as he finds some fast ground, his winning run shouldn’t come to an end in the near future.
GO AMBER GO has been slow to get the hang of racing but after a break, she came back to win in impressive fashion at Bath on Wednesday. We trained her half-brothers Yes Chef and My Boy Ginger as well as the dam Lady Chef so it’s great to have won with all four. She only won off 46 and with Yes Chef rated 81 at his best, she has plenty of room to work with and bids to follow up under a 6lb penalty at Chepstow on Thursday in a weaker contest so shouldn’t be far away.
She is joined by CONCUR and RAJADARMI at Chepstow and both should run better than their odds suggest. Rajadarmi will come on from his fourth at Windsor but would not want the ground too soft and has each-way chances. Concur has had excuses since his Bath third and works much better than his mark of 48 suggests. Hopefully he can finally come good over seven furlongs and it is not a strong contest.
